Proud to Be Number One: Celebrating UVA Health Children’s Success

It has been an exciting week as we celebrate the remarkable achievement of UVA Health Children’s being ranked the No. 1 children’s hospital in Virginia by U.S. News & World Report for the fourth consecutive year! Yesterday, I had the privilege of spending time on our Mother-Baby, Labor and Delivery, NICU, PICU, and Peds Acute units with some of the dedicated team members who made this incredible milestone possible.

The methodology behind U.S. News rankings is rigorous. They assess metrics such as patient outcomes, safety practices, specialized programs, and insights from a national survey of pediatric specialists to identify hospitals providing top-tier care for children with severe or complex conditions. The journey to becoming No. 1 at UVA Health Children’s has been built on the unwavering dedication of our exceptional team, intentional culture work, and significant investments aimed at enhancing patient care.

From leadership to clinical care at the bedside, in the clinics, and beyond, we witness compassion, courtesy, and expertise across every corner of Children’s. It was heartening to celebrate this momentous accomplishment with some of the incredible team members who made it possible, and I’m thrilled to share this celebration with all of you!

This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our entire UVA Health Children’s family. It is a testament to the long hours, hard work, and passionate commitment that every team member demonstrates daily. Each of you plays a crucial role in ensuring that our youngest patients receive extraordinary care in a nurturing environment.

Please join me in thanking and honoring all our team members at UVA Health Children’s for their incredible commitment to providing outstanding care and for helping us maintain our top position. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and I am proud to work alongside each of you. Together, we are making a significant impact on the lives of our patients and their families.

Take care and be well,

Wendy
