Last week, we celebrated National Nurses Week at UVA Health — and what an incredible week it was.
From the Evidence-Based Practice Symposium and moving Blessing of the Hands ceremonies to joyful drop-in celebrations and the Nursing Excellence Awards, our team came together to honor our nurses. Whether you grabbed a late-night coffee at Higher Grounds, sent a Nightingale Notable to a colleague, or joined us on the MR5 lawn for Food Truck Friday, each event reflected the appreciation we hold for our nursing teams.
A memorable moment was seeing the South Tower and Battle Building glow red as part of the American Nurses Association’s “Nurses Light Up the Sky” campaign. I found it a powerful reminder of the light our nurses bring to patients and families every day and a heartwarming moment of comradery with our colleagues across the nation.
So many wonderful memories were captured from the week, and I’m excited to share a preview of those moments with you!
To our UVA Health nurses: thank you. Your impact reaches far beyond the bedside. You mentor the next generation of caregivers, lead research that shapes the future of health care, and inspire hope in every role you hold.
Let’s continue to honor and support each other not just this week, but every day. You are the heart of UVA Health, and I am so proud to serve alongside all of you.
