Each month, I'll post a short video sharing three things I'd like for you to know and that I think will make a difference in your work here at UVA Health. This month, I'm talking about the importance of team member feedback and collaboration (particularly as it relates to preparing for our upcoming visit from The Joint Commission), our multi-year plan to address Medical Center compensation, and giving thanks to all of you.
As you heard last week, our current compensation updates include merit pay increases and a market salary review of all positions. Another critical part of this plan will influence our recruitment and retention of the experienced nursing teams we need to provide critical care to our patients including bonuses for nurses who have provided frontline care over the past year and a salary equity review to ensure they are paid for their education and relevant experience.
Thank you to the team members who have reached out with questions about the current compensation plans and decisions. I have appreciated the opportunity to talk with many of you. Please know, above all, that this is just the first step in a multi-year plan to help us get to where we need to be as a top-tier academic medical center. As an entity that's separate from the academic division of UVA and has its own financial model, I can commit to you that we're doing as much as we can as soon as we can. We are acting now and will commit to exploring even more meaningful changes in subsequent years to provide the total rewards and market-competitive compensation that will support all of you in your work and your lives.
Take care and be well!
