This week, we will celebrate National Doctors’ Day and pay tribute to the incredible dedication of our doctors across UVA Health! Every member of UVA Health plays a significant part in our mission of transforming health and inspiring hope for all Virginians and beyond — and I love it when we can use special occasions like these to show appreciation. Though National Doctors’ Day is officially on March 30, we will have several opportunities to show our gratitude in the days ahead.
Today, March 28, at noon, UVA Health is hosting its first town hall of 2023. Beyond updating you on the latest developments across the health system and our progress on some key initiatives, the event will include a panel hosted by Tracey Hoke, MD, Chief of Quality and Process Improvement and three of our exceptional doctors, including Camilo E. Fadul, MD; Regan Royer, MD; and Elisa Trowbridge, MD. This is the perfect time for us to recognize all the work our physicians do to provide expert care to our patients and hear from several of our doctors about their personal experiences at UVA Health.
You can attend the Town Hall in person at the Leonard Sandridge Auditorium, located on the first floor of McKim, or join the livestream. I also want to take this opportunity to remind you that any team member can submit their questions to YourTownHall@uvahealth.org — now or during the event!
In addition to the panel during Town Hall, another opportunity to gain insight from our doctors is the two videos we’ve created featuring interviews with Camilo E. Fadul, MD and Regan Royer, MD. In the videos, Dr. Fadul and Dr. Royer share their stories about life as a doctor at UVA Health.
We also have new doctors in training to celebrate! The recent Match Day for the UVA School of Medicine’s Class of 2023 was an exciting day for our medical students and soon we’ll have new doctors in training coming from all around, including 23 of our students who matched here at UVA Health. This is a significant accomplishment both for our students and for the continued growth of our entire health system. I know we will all do our part to be welcoming and supportive of the doctors in training — as we strive to be for all new team members.
I want to thank all our doctors, present and future, for your hard work and dedication to providing excellent medical care. Thank you for your commitment to UVA Health and to our patients. And I hope everyone will join me in celebrating National Doctors’ Day by showing appreciation to our amazing doctors on March 30.
Take care and be well,
Wendy
